Week 3 - Blog Posting #6 - Communities of Practice

What do you do when you want to get to know people? How about getting information on some great vacation spots? Maybe find out about the local cuisine?

There are a number of search engines and websites that one can use to achieve this quest but how accurate and how recent is the information you’re getting? I for one can always depend on that one person who has had that first hand experience. You know to whom I refer to - your friend, your neighbor, your church or any combination there of.

Well, this is what LinkedIn, FaceBook and MySpace is all about. These sites are about “current” up to date events. They can get you in touch with those friends that you haven’t seen in a while. While you’re in contact, now set a time to get together – even more, ask him or her if they know of as great eatery to go to. It’s as simple as that!

It’s also about a community and setting up your network. Remember, “No man is an Island.”
